Mouchette (1967) Robert Bresson

 I heard of Robert Bresson in a youtube video of Tarkovsky. Mouchette is one of his best known films. Tarkovsky counts it amongst the ten best films of all time. In his list are three Bergman (Persona is one i forget the others), one Chaplin (City Lights), Kurosawa (Seven Samurai) and Mizoguchi (Ugestsu).

Bresson is truly a masterful director. There is a young girl daughter of an alcoholic father and a bedridden mother who receives nothing but cruelty from everyone around her. There is an incident she is witness to involving two men fighting over a barmaid. Great film. Got to watch more.
